Highlight of our trip to Ireland
Staying with Neil and Bobbi at the Riverbend B&B on the Connemara Peninsula was a highlight of our trip. Our stay in the Alaska Room was comfortable, clean, quiet, and tastefully filled with interesting décor representing a snapshot of our hosts lives. From the moment we entered the building, we were welcomed with warmth and respect.
All aspects of our stay seemed well thought out, from helpful insights and directions around town, to the full Irish breakfast in the mornings.
In a short time we were made to feel like we were family.
Throughout the rest of our stay in Ireland, nothing could quite compare to Riverbend B&B. Highly recommend staying here!
The best time we could have wished for!
Riverbend Lodge is a very welcoming and inviting B&B with the two most amazing owners! Bobbi and Neil made us feel very welcome, more like friends in their home than just guests in a B&B. The clean rooms are themed and reflect their life experiences which adds a nice personal touch to it. The breakfast is outstanding – the continental choices are very fresh and Bobbi fixes a delicious full Irish breakfast. Both Bobbie and Neil are very knowledgeable about the area and had a bunch of great recommendations on what to see and where to eat/drink. We can’t wait to be back and visit again!
The La Pera's Family Vacation
Our hosts, Neil and Bobbi were very attentive to our needs. They were extremely helpful in navigating us through the sights of Ireland. Their home is immaculate and the rooms were clean and very cozy. We ate a traditional Irish breakfast, had tea and ate the most delicious chocolate muffins, ever. Situated in the wonderful town of Oughterard, It is walking distance to the center of town with great restaurants and pubs. The property is picturesque and they have a wonderful garden and orchard. There is a beautiful walking trail only a few steps away. We are so lucky to have spent that time and found a perfect retreat for our trip to Ireland.
Neil & Bobbi will be mortified when they see this review.
Neil and Bobbi are friends of ours. This review is biased. It will not stand up to independant scrutiny, so you will just have to take our word for it. You will not find a nicer couple to stay with. Even before opening up their home as a guest house, hospitality, warmth, and friendship are how you would best describe your experience after having met them. That’s where the the niceness ends and the friendship has to be paused. Neil is on the water more often than I am, lately, and I console myself with this as the reason why he catches more, and better fish than I do. He just has to stop it, and let a duffer like myself have half a chance. If I have to go to my boat one more time to bail out all the rainwater and find out he has beaten me to it, and bailed out, not just his own boat but mine also (again), then I’ll explode in a puff of righteous indignation, as he has robbed me , yet again, of my chance to repay the favour. He is so selfish that way!!!!!!
Seriously, If you are looking for a place to stay in the west of Ireland, that is warm (not just temperature wise), an ideal launchpad into and around Connemara, with many activities to keep you busy, then don’t pass their door.
They are good people. They will mind you very well, but don’t take our word for it. We are biased. Check out their lovely home for yourself.

Thank you so much for your hospitality, laughs, good food and wine. I had a wonderful time catching up and touring the old stomping grounds. The home is beautiful and very welcoming. Wishing you both many happy, healthy years in Riverbend Lodge. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. Best of Luck to Philip in his travels! Bonus was meeting Marcy and Charlie again, hope they have as wonderful a time as I did.
